WELCOME TO REGENSBURG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL 
                                                         

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the website of Regensburg International School.

In October 2009 RIS became a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the IB. We are now in our trial implementation phase, which is required as part of the application process for authorization to offer the PYP and to become an IB World School.  These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Regensburg International School believes is important for students. 

We also believe that parent participation is critical and we look forward to working with all our parents throughout the year and developing a strong partnership to support the academic, social and emotional growth of their children.  

If you are considering RIS as a possibility for your child, and would like to know more about the school, we would like to invite you to one of our information meetings.

They will take place in the school on:
Thursday, 25 March, from 11.00 to 12.30
Saturday, 17 April, from 10.00 to 11.30
Wednesday, 5 May, from 18.30 to 20.00

At each meeting we will talk about:

   Education in the school:
   * The mission and objectives of the school
   * The IB (International Baccalaureate) programmes
   * The curriculum: what we want children to learn , how they will learn
   * Languages in the school

   School organization:
   * The school calendar, the school day, meals, after school care
   * The tuition fees
   * How to apply

You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

The school, which is a non-profit organization, meets the needs of a growing international community and promotes the economic development of Regensburg and Eastern Bavaria.

The school project was initiated by the city of Regensburg, the administrative district of Regensburg, the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce (IHK), many well known companies (e.g. Areva, Continental, Infineon, Krones, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, Osram) and  Regensburg University and the University of Applied Sciences. The project was guided and supervised by Stadtmarketing Regensburg e.V. (City Marketing Regensburg).

RIS aspires to become an International Baccalaureate World School (www.ibo.org), first pursuing authorization to offer the PYP, and at a later date pursuing authorization for the IB Diploma Programme that leads to a qualification that is recognized by leading universities around the world.
